Digital accessibility: think about tasks, not just appearance
Accessibility helps people with different abilities and assistive technologies use the website. Identify important tasks such as reading an article, finding contact information and completing checkout. The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative provides standards and practical resources. A visually attractive layout can still block those tasks if it depends on a mouse, ambiguous controls or information conveyed only through color.
Test keyboard interaction
Move through links, buttons and forms using the keyboard. Check that focus is visible and follows an understandable order. W3C’s introduction explains that accessible functionality should not rely on a mouse. Ensure menus and dialogs can be operated and dismissed appropriately. Do not hide a focused control or trap visitors in a component they cannot leave.

Provide meaningful alternatives
Use appropriate alternative text for informative images and captions or transcripts where required for media. Decorative imagery should not create unnecessary reading burden. Explain the relevant meaning rather than adding keywords mechanically. An AI illustration is not a verified software screenshot. If an actual interface is essential to instructions, use accurate, privacy-safe material and a text explanation.
Make content and forms understandable
Use a sensible heading structure, clear labels and helpful error messages. Check contrast and legibility at mobile widths and when text is enlarged. Do not rely on placeholder text as the only label. Tell visitors how to correct an error without exposing sensitive data. Important instructions should remain available regardless of motion or visual effects.
Combine checks with user evaluation
Automated tools can find some issues but cannot establish the entire experience. Test key routes manually and involve appropriate users or accessibility specialists where possible. Keep improvements in the maintenance process. Avoid advertising formal compliance based only on a plugin or score. Accessibility is continuing work tied to actual visitor tasks and relevant requirements.
