Images are reused AI-generated editorial illustrations, not documentary photographs or verified product screenshots.
Export a group from Figma as an image only after checking the selected content, bounds and intended use. An image export captures visual output, not a functioning interface or complete design source. Verify the actual saved file before delivering it to a client or adding it to a website.
Choose the correct selection and bounds
Identify the layers to export and inspect clipping, shadows and background needs. Figma’s static export options and slices serve different purposes. A slice exports within its defined area, so content outside that boundary can be omitted. Do not assume the visible canvas region and the selected export area are identical.

Match format and scale to the destination
Review supported format options and choose according to the recipient’s actual needs. Inspect the exported dimensions, transparency and detail. Increasing export scale does not establish appropriate website delivery weight or restore detail that is absent from a source asset. Keep the editable design when the handover requires future changes.
Review rights, privacy and accessibility
Confirm permission for included imagery, fonts or other assets as required by their terms. Remove private client data from screenshots. An image of text or controls does not provide their original accessible semantics or interactivity. Supply an appropriate alternative description or actual implementation where the destination needs it.
A practical checklist
- Check selection, clipping and export bounds.
- Choose the destination’s format and scale.
- Inspect actual dimensions and saved output.
- Review included asset rights and private content.
- Keep editable sources and accessible alternatives where needed.
Worked example
Illustrative example: a synthetic card includes a shadow and a transparent background. The designer exports it under the chosen settings and inspects whether the shadow is cropped. The recipient also receives the agreed editable source. The exported image is not described as a working accessible form simply because it resembles one.

Common questions
Is an image export a functional interface? No. Does a slice include everything outside its bounds? No. Does delivery remove licensing obligations? No.
What to do next
Keep an export acceptance checklist with the handover. Correct visual output, permitted use and the recipient’s actual implementation needs are separate quality checks.
